As guests on Chumash land in downtown Ojai, CA we often admire the ridge line of the Topa Topa mountains from our dining room table. This weekend we decided to backpack up the 7 miles from our house to the ridge and camp for a night. We thanked the breeze as we climbed and took breaks along the way, careful to avoid poison oak. We listened to Harry Potter, watched the stars turn on as the sun went down and snuggled together to stay warm overnight. We broke camp the next morning as the sun crept over the horizon, and meandered back home - returning to our dining room table with coffee and croissants, marveling at the ridge line from a new perspective.
