Il est alors question d’évocation, de perception, et d’intériorisation. » - Grégoire Prangé Les œuvres de Valentin van der Meulen réalisées au fusain et à la pierre noire sur du papier buvard, tendent à dégager tout contexte de l’image et son sujet, afin que le spectateur ne puisse les relier ni à un événement précis ni à une actualité que l’image d’origine évoquait. Son travail interroge les limites de l’image et du dessin à travers les notions d’altération, d’espace, de temps, d’histoire, ou de construction de l’identité. Valentin van der Meulen est né en 1979 à Lille. Il vit et travaille à Paris. Il est représenté depuis plusieurs années par différentes galeries internationales. It is, then, a question of evocation, perception, and interiorization. » - Grégoire Prangé These works, made with charcoal and black stone on blotting paper, tend to reveal all the context of the image and its subject, so that the spectator can not relate them to a specific event or to a current event that the original image represented. His work questions the limits of image and drawing through notions of alteration, space, time, history, or the construction of identity. Valentin van der Meulen was born in 1979 in Lille. He lives and works in Paris. He has been represented for several years by international galleries.
