I’m Deo Jaravata from Granada Hills, CA and originally from Manila, Philippines. I’ve been a high school math teacher for 25 years. The movie “Forrest Gump” inspired me to start running. In 1996 I started training for my first marathon - LA Marathon 1997. Since then I only missed the Los Angeles Marathon once and I have finished 520 marathons and ultras in all 50 states and 7 continents. I’m also a racewalker and a member of various running clubs including LA Frontrunners, SRLA, A Runner’s Circle, and Marathon Maniacs. Since 1999, I have coached and trained students in my school to run the marathon as part of SRLA. You will see me running , racewalking, hiking or volunteering around Los Angeles .
