In almost 20 years of guiding I’ve almost never had the privilege of leading brown people into the mountains. Latinos are the backbone of our community - they do the hard work, they enrich the culture, and they have been here for 30 years, but our community does little to ensure their wellbeing. You rarely see them enjoying the things everyone else came here for - which is not a coincidence. Thank you to @exumguides who supported this initiative and enabled us to bring this courageous group of women up the Grand. It was epic! I would have to put this day on the list of most memorable summits of life, on par with taking my kids up the grand for their first time. These ladies are special, and their contribution to my community is immeasurable and untold. @caminaconmigo.jh is a new force in the outdoors and I’m honored to be a part of it. Hasta la cumbre!
