i get real awkward about these things and i’ve never cared for the lists, awards, etc. but i’m learning that these moments allow us to reflect on how far we’ve come. forever grateful for the people, specifically black women, who have spoken highly of me in rooms that i’m not in and offering words of advice and encouragement when i didn’t know what i was doing. overwhelmingly grateful for @emefa.xyz, @djxdomo, @notlopez, @ladyjeems, @asia.burris, @shanmadeit, @tourdeken, @meaghansmom, @iamwhitneygayle, @angie_4 and many others for serving as guiding lights and examples of how to navigate this wild industry. eleven year old kimmy (who realized she wanted to work in music after hearing ashanti’s debut album) would be hella proud.
