10 days ago, Lorelei had never put her head underwater, let alone jumped into a pool, floated on her back or swam, even with assistance. It was a challenge to get her in a body of water (lake, ocean or pool — she didn’t discriminate). After a lot of research, I decided to enroll her in swim lessons at @goldfishswimschool because me trying to teach her the past few years had gotten her nowhere. A week ago Monday, her swim instructor had to literally peel her off of me while she bawled to get her into the pool. Today, she jumped into the pool, swam a bit, flipped over to her back and floated, then flipped back over and swam the rest of the way to the other side of the pool during lessons. Then she jumped into the pool, swam to the bottom to pick up a sink ring and came back up and swam to the edge of the pool with it. All on her own while her swim instructor watched and encouraged her. It is incredible how this kiddo who has always feared the water was able to work through that fear and make this progress in such an incredibly short amount of time. And it’s 100% thanks to her swim instructors. We spent the last 4 years trying to coax her into just putting her head under water or jumping in a pool with ZERO progress lol Anyway, all this to say, Goldfish Swim School - Sylvania has been amazing and I will forever recommend it and its instructors after Lorelei’s experience and progression. SO MUCH PATIENCE and just so good at what they do, especially with a kid that had a HUGE fear of water/swimming.
