I was asked recently about colour and how I wear it - it’s been a bit of a slow process.⁣
I think growing up wearing a uniform and in a Virginia suburb meant that in my childhood I felt like the message was never really to stand out or cultivate your own taste. Sameness was really celebrated - or rather, not acknowledged at all, which is what everyone wanted. ⁣ ⁣ I had a strong emo kid phase which was band tees upon band tees and then loved fashion magazines which meant trying to shoehorn my body into trends that didn’t really fit me.⁣ ⁣ I moved to London which meant wearing all black, but because it’s so grey here most of the time it really affected my mood. And most people here wear whatever they want, which encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone and get to know what I actually like. Getting older helps. Not really caring helps. It’s all an experiment! It’s all fun.⁣ ⁣ So if you want to play with colour, just remember that! It’s all an experiment, it’s all about what you like. It may not be your thing at the end of the day but at least you’ve tried it and now you know. ⁣ ⁣ Do what brings you joy! 💗🌈⭐️⁣ ⁣ OUTFIT DETAILS:⁣ Shirt: @hm⁣ Trousers: @cosstores⁣ Shoes: @stevemaddenuk via @asos⁣ ⁣ 📸: @alexgracejones⁣ ⁣ #DopamineDressing #DressingHappy #DressJoyfully #SerotoninStyling #size16style #Size18Style #Over30Style #WentOutLikeThis #SummerDressing #SummerOutfitInspo #AnotherOutfitPost #OutfitInspo
