A true dream-like encounter with a mom and calf pair of Blue Whales on our most recent Baja Extended Trip! Now through the end of the Fall is some of the nicest weather we experience here in San Diego, and that allows us to search far and wide for any amazing animals that might be out there! Smooth seas and sunny skies also allows for breathtaking views of wildlife for photographers and simple admirers alike!
Beyond the weather, these special extended tours give you the best chance to have an up-close encounter with the majestic animals that call the Pacific Ocean home! With more time on the water, we can prioritize finding animals that are more “friendly” as opposed to being limited to watching whichever animals are just on the coastline. (Of course, close encounters will always be up to the whales, not us!)
While Blue Whales are still the species we are seeing the most, almost any species is possible now through early December! Blue, Fin, Humpback, Minke, and Bryde’s whales are all possible to be encountered. We could also see Cuvier’s Beaked Whales (already 11 sightings this year!), Baird’s Beaked Whales, Sperm Whales, Pilot Whales, False Killer Whales, and Orcas (we’re due for an orca sighting!) as well! You never know what you’ll see on a full day offshore trip with us, and space remains on our Baja extended trips throughout the fall! All trips leave from Mission Bay in San Diego and return home by sunset!
