Newt year, newt me. Looking to make some changes in the new year? Find inspiration from the eastern red-spotted newt. It goes through several significant life stages. As larvae, these newts live underwater and acquire oxygen from their feathery gills. It will switch from water to land during its terrestrial stage and transform into the adorable red eft in the first image. It's during this stage that they grow lungs to use for the rest of their life. Their final act is to metamorphose into their adult form and return to living in the water. Even after re-entering the water as adults, they will continue to breathe air. We hope this little amphibian helps inspire your newt year transformation goals.
