But did you know that these iconic boats that dot the waters of Vietnam were allegedly born out of the necessity of fisherman during the French colonial era. The French levied taxes on boats that the fisherman couldn’t afford so, Vietnamese people being Asians came up with the genius design of circular woven “baskets” that just so happened to also function as boats. So, this boat ride that you can enjoy for just 200k VND isn’t just a touristy activity, it’s so much more! We got our basket boat ride experience through @thebasketboat and it costs 250kVND per person (Approx INR 800) and it includes a welcome drink at their amazing cafe, hotel pick up and drop and ofcourse the super fun experience of the basket boat ride through Bay Mau Coconut Forest, Hoi An! 🌴
