It will be some time before I fully process this thing. I know this, though, today, for sure: I love live theater, especially in New York City. Leigh Silverman is a genius and captain like no other and absolutely fits in on my Mt Rushmore with Jane Wagner and Lily Tomlin Justin (Joanne) Scribner is the greatest dancing partner which is a job some people call stage manager. Chris(tine) and Joanna are the best bubblemates I could ask for, and my favorite revelation of the show was Joanna (very Long Island) saying- “you know I was up late last night and I kept thinking- Fuck Bob. He’s a fucking phony” And I really truly know what it feels like, as I think Kafka wrote, to have been filled with a sense of endless astonishment simply at seeing a group of people cheerfully assembled. And all this even though it had begun to rain.
