Two years in the making I am pleased to present a show I am curating titled Ambientes: Places After Time at Heaven Gallery in Chicago. Opening June 25th 2021 [1-6 PM and 7-11 PM.]. These two years have been such a roller coaster but I wouldn’t have had it any other way as it has encouraged growth. We love growth right?? 🥴🌱 Thank you to all the artists without them it wouldn’t have been possible! 🎇 The show follows from Ben Anderson’s essay titled Affective Atmospheres. Throughout the show I attempt to localize the notions of an atmosphere. Tied to place, emotion, architecture, material states and or geography an atmosphere always summons a state of fluidity. Extending through different temporal magnitudes, color intensities, and vibrations I am inspired by each artist in their attention to their cognitive senses, whether it be spatial, memory and or intuition. In trusting our instincts we attempt to to localize every element & shift in an ambience through different gestures be it sculpture, photography, prints or image transfers. Whether we see it or point towards it, the inability to fully described it is what makes the show. It is in the absence and in the presence. The artists in the show bring us back to the breath, the intimacy, and the stillness of what exists in the affect and emotion in the everyday. That being of our homes, our neighborhoods and our histories of growing up in the United States...
