This juvenile ferruginous hawk is having a self-care morning. Preening is how birds keep their feathers healthy and clean. It also helps spread conditioning oils through their feathers, keeping them warm and dry. It can get rid of any parasites that may be living in their plumage, as well. Video: John Magera/USFWS
