How do you enrich your 9-5? Pliés, pirouettes and putting on a ballet at one of Europe’s most iconic stages, of course.
Copenhagen creative agency &Co has made ballet dancing part of the working day for its employees. In an effort to improve work-life balance and foster a space for greater creativity, the agency has spent 2,500 billable hours and six months learning ballet dancing this year – with none of its employees holding any prior experience.
A recent documentary charting the agency’s journey with dance – entitled The Ballet of Creativity – explains: “To get great creativity, you must build an environment that promotes it.” Ballet, after all, shares some of the most crucial benefits of creativity, such as risk, willingness and the freedom to try out something new... and potentially fail.
A press release from &Co confirms that the recent ventures aimed to “make sure that going to the office also meant being challenged, achieving personal growth and the great human experiences you normally seek out in your time off”. After six months of work, &Co employees fulfilled their aim and put on a performance at the Pantomime Theatre in Tivoli Gardens.
Do you think ballet is a clever way to combat burnout?
