Season 1 Episode 13 The Benefit January 7, 1952 Ethel’s women’s club is having a benefit and she wants Ricky to perform. Ethel can’t get the nerve up to ask him so she asks Lucy if she can get him to do it. Lucy says she’ll get him to do it...with just one condition. She performs with him! As that’s the only way she can get Ricky, Ethel agrees. Ricky of course declines, but after a little time, a little whining, and a lot of crying, Lucy gets him to agree to do an act with her. Lucy wants to sing a duet. First, Ricky chooses the song Auf Wiedersehen. In this song, Lucy has 1 word to sing over and over - AUF! Ricky insists this is all she can do. Lucy insists on another song. Ricky asks Fred to bring Lucy home another set of music for then to do instead - Underneath the Bamboo Tree. A fun song and joke number. In this one, Ricky set it all up so he has all the jokes and Lucy just feeds them to him. Clearly upset about having none of the jokes, Lucy memorizes the act and plays her own joke on tricky Ricky while being the star onstage.
