✨Churchill in August✨ If you watched my stories you'll know that we had such a great trip to Churchill! August might just be my favourite month there - the train ride was stunning and you have a good chance of seeing the Churchill trifecta (belugas, bears, and borealis) like we did✨ 🚊 We drove from Winnipeg to Thompson, parked our car at the McCreedy Campground, and took the train to Churchill. This was such a unique experience and made our trip feel like three trips in one. We rode economy on the way out and had a berth on the way back (the most affordable sleeper). The seats were comfy, everyone was quiet at night, and the rocking of the train lulled me to sleep. The food service was up and running so we treated ourselves to hot coffee and breakfast in the morning, which was delicious. The ride is 16 hours in total but with a sleep in between it felt pretty quick in my opinion! 🏠 We stayed at the Tundra Inn while we were in town. Our room had two double beds, a large fridge (great if you want to bring food with you to save some money), a really cozy shared lounge space, and continental breakfast every day. The hotel had a restaurant across the street which was a major favourite of ours. We also ate at the Caribou Cafe (within the health centre, great for lunch & inexpensive), the Dancing Bear, and the Tundra Cafe. 🐋 All of our water based tours were led by @seanorthtours! Their tours ranged in price from $123 to $170/person and we did a little bit of everything (kayaking, zodiac boating, paddleboarding, hiking at Sloop Cove, and exploring Fort Prince of Whales). My favourite had to be the kayaking because the belugas were so playful, or the zodiac tours that take you further out into Hudson Bay where the water is crystal clear. 🎁 There are a few gift shops in town if you're looking to pick up a memory of your trip. The Itsanitaq Museum and the Trading Post were my favourites. We picked up some books, stickers, and a large vintage Indigenous print for our dining room. I have another post coming up covering the other tours and things we did while we were out there - stay tuned! Thanks so much to @travelmanitoba for sponsoring this trip💕
