I haven’t been posting much but heres a lil’ update. I had the pleasure to write an essay on Juan Arango Palacios’ beautiful painting titled “Group Selfie” (2022) for Intervencionxs part of the @latinxprojnyu at NYU. The entire process was rewarding. Being able to create a nexus between thinkers and to deeply sit with their work was an expected pleasure. It offered insight to who I am as a writer and the type of ideas I want to continue to explore in contemporary art. This process was also affirming and encouraged me to think of collaborative ways in how I can continue to support other artists. Just 7 years ago I released my zine Paleta: un espacio for Queer bois of color and now to have had the opportunity to write an essay on an artist might have felt unimaginable then but here we are. Quizás Paleta will have a new debut and maybe it’ll just be centered on one artist at a time, pero for now I think the seeds have been sown and I am ready to continue to find ways to amplify BIPOC artists through nuanced ideas and thinking.
