“They’re selling out souls, but I care about mine!” For @bushwig this year, I wanted to send a clear message: community is paramount, and if you are not using your voice or your platform for those community members on the margins of society—then I am uninterested. There is more to drag, more to life, more to art than just being “cunt”. Community will be what saves us. Not likes, not followers, and most definitely not the VIP section. There is no group or individual more “important” than the other. We owe it to ourselves and our communities to lead with love, to lead with kindness, to lead with patience. Investing in what brings us together should always be the focus. The frivolous clout chasing, the drama, the velvet ropes—all of that will not be there for you when the going gets tough, when you need someone in your corner, when you’re sitting alone. There is no need for hierarchy. We are stronger together than we have ever been apart. Be about the change—not just when it’s cool.
