Update from the ground: The scene in #Kentucky after last week’s catastrophic flooding is grim. Animals and people have been left displaced and vulnerable. Rescuers have even witnessed nervous pets on floating debris, scared and alone. Pets like Callie (photo 3), a one-year-old cat, who was found on a piece of driftwood, floating in the water for hours, trying to survive. After her rescue, Callie was taken care of at one of our animal shelter partners and luckily, was soon reunited with her family. There are countless stories like Callie’s. As shelters scramble to accommodate all of the stray animals displaced by the flood waters, IFAW’s Disaster Response team is helping both the shelters and local authorities on how best to serve both animals and people. Thanks to your support and quick response to our calls for help, a brighter picture is starting to emerge. We’re heartened to see citizens across the country rise to the occasion to help, and we’re inspired by the resilience we’re seeing from people living near the areas hit hardest by the foods. As we continue to help where we are needed most, thank you for your ongoing support. 💙 #GetThereInTime Photos: Julia Cumes / © IFAW
