鉁忥笍 On 2 April 1911, Miro虂 wrote a letter to his parents informing them of his decision to devote himself to painting and quitting his job as an accountant. Their reply must not have been at all positive, as can be deduced from a new letter that Miro虂 wrote to them on 9 April, in which he reaffirmed with even greater confidence his desire and intention to earn a living as an artist.

馃嵕 Joan Miro虂 dedicated Painting (The bottle of wine), 1924, to his parents, as it was one of his most Surrealist works. Here, a bottle of wine appears amidst simplified symbols of the natural elements in the artist鈥檚 surroundings and in his imagination: the mountains, a snake and an insect.
