This pair of townhomes in Ybor City, Florida are an echo to the century-old design traditions of this historic neighborhood. @practicellc.co envisioned a modern take on the long, narrow “shotgun house” vernacular common to the cigar industry barrio. While the home has a bright, modern aesthetic, it’s core is entirely traditional. Just like the old shotgun houses of the neighborhood, Practice’s townhomes feature traditional porch-and-gable archetypes with white wooden walls and terrazzo flooring. Playful design details pay a subtle homage to the Ybor City neighborhood, like the brass rooster shape cut into the terrazzo. It was a joy to shoot with Practice Architecture as always, especially when the project is right in my own back yard. 🐓
