I’m such a nerd for Scully tape machines. Got the 1/4” 280 and 1” 284 from a guy in Colorado probably 15 years ago. He was an engineer for a church that bought them new in 68. Later when they switched formats he bought them of the church. But today I just acquired the elusive Scully 100 2” 16 track. I saw it in the storage room of a composer I play tennis with and lost my mind. This machine is interesting because it’s a sync head only machine and the meter bridge was a optional add on. This one has no meter bridge 😳. One other interesting thing about it is the Tupac sticker on the front of it. If anyone knows anyone associated with Tupac’s recordings out there I’d be very curious if they recognizes this machine. It’s an LA native so who knows?
