There’s no better time than #Fall to start #canning and #preserving food. Follow @Aniciangozi as she makes homemade #AppleJam right in her kitchen. Here’s the recipe: 3 apples diced 1 1/2 cups water 1/2 tsp cinnamon 1/4 tsp nutmeg 1 cup sugar mixed 1/2 teaspoon cornstarch Directions Step 1 Peel, core, and roughly chop your apples into 3⁄4” to 1" pieces. Step 2 Combine apples with 11⁄2 cups water in a heavy bottomed pot or saucepan over medium-high heat. Bring to a simmer, stirring occasionally, and cook until fruit is tender and mixture has reduced by 1⁄4, about 15 minutes. Step 3 Add the sugar + spices. Reduce heat to medium, and cook, stirring frequently, until mixture is jammy and thick, about 20-25 minutes more. If jam consistency is runny ... add in cornstarch to thicken. Step 4 When jam has reached desired consistency, divide between clean jars, and seal tightly. Refrigerate. Jam will last up to 2 weeks.
