Also , do you ever get uneven lift in your foils ? This is generally an issue with long haired guests. You really have to saturate the hair with your lightener. Always comb it through. Combing ensures there are no little pockets of untouched hair. Also it helps the product breathe. I use a strength staggering technique also. Each area I move through has a slightly stronger lightener. I generally start with 7 or 13 volume and rarely have to go up to straight 20. This gives me time and protection.
