It was a pleasure meeting Jack Yates Photography Teacher Mr. Ray Carrington who I realized was one of my grandfathers dear friends. During the panel, he mentioned how he came to Houston on a tennis scholarship. Being that my grandfather played and taught tennis in Houston for decades, I instantly knew we were connected. I approached him after to introduce myself and formally ask if he knew my grandfather. He immediately embraced me and proclaimed “Girl, we family!” at the mere mention of my grandfathers name.
