Got to my hometown (Detroit, MI) yesterday to attend a meeting of art and design school presidents and a conference, walked up to the hotel’s reception desk and was helped by three lovely folks one of whom was sporting these nails. These nails! They’re everything! @nailsby.ni, you did the thing! So you know I had to get the scoop. Hand painted (not stickers—I asked). 2 hours to create (I gawped). They last a month or sometimes a month and a half (gawped again). I’m telling you: art and artistry are everywhere! I love this so much and was thankful for the reminder. Something fundamental about holding the truth of art, artistry, and creativity and the way it shows up in our daily lives in obvious and unobvious ways. It was a wonderful way to be welcomed back home. When away, which is almost always (alas!), I sometimes forget about the extravagant creativity in The D. And I should not.
