While belugas are the main draw to Churchill in the month of August, it’s also a great time to see the northern lights and explore the warmth of summer in the North.
We signed up for @discoverchurchill Northern Lights Call List and we’re treated with clear skies and a high chance of northern lights the second day we were in town! Alex gave us a call at 11:15 pm and by 11:30 pm he was pulling up in a tour van and we drove around town picking up 10 other people joining the tour. We spent the next 4 hours chasing the Aurora out of town & learning about the lights✨ pretty dang cool.
The next day we rented e-bikes from @wapusk and did an in-town mural tour by bike. It was honestly one of the best parts of our trip and we felt like we really explored every nook and cranny of Churchill.
We also spent a few evenings exploring town after dinner. The beach along the Hudson Bay is one of the most beautiful places to enjoy the glow of the setting sun. There’s usually a lot of people hanging out near the large Inukshuk, fire pits, and benches - which is always a good sign in polar bear country🐻❄️
We also did a town and area tour with @discoverchurchill on our last day. We checked out the remaining murals, visited the Miss Peggy plane wreck, explored the coastline, and hiked out to the SS Ithika. Highly recommend if you’re interested in learning all about the history of the town of Churchill🌎🐋
Thanks so much to @travelmanitoba for sponsoring this trip💕#ExploreMB
