I stopped by my favourite tree on my run yesterday - it’s the highest tree in the Cotswolds and is known by various names, including Lone Beech and Lonely Tree. It’s now also a memorial spot, with plaques remembering those who loved this hill, and some of the words seem particularly poignant right now. It’s been seven days of highs and lows - a wonderful big family party last weekend followed by an unexpected family bereavement and then, of course, the news about the Queen.
