Sometimes running is a joy and sometimes it’s a chore but it’s always a privilege. Had to gut through this as it didn’t start great. My 7r old son was awake much earlier than expected so I played games with him so Dayna could get a work out in and I got a late start which meant some extra heat. The first 6 miles were all at an incline and I felt every bit of it. Then at mile 11-13 my blood sugars dropped off a cliff and I was out of sugars on me. @daynachecketts met me and gave me a drink so I could finish the 15 @theamshakeout and @ken_rideout assigned me. Bottom line is running with Type 1 diabetes is a roller coaster and it doesn’t always go well. I clearly am not a natural distance runner. I don’t know if I have a slow twitch muscle fiber in my body. But I’m beyond blessed and have so much in my corner. As I run I think—it is such a privilege to work like this. I have great medical care, a supportive family (my brother @carrasholmstead also set out some fruit for me at his house mid run), great coaches in Mario and Ken and the latest in gear. It’s still a grind but there’s no excuse not to do the work. I was taught at an early age from my Grandpa lolo—“emphasize the positive, subdue the negative, count your blessings not your problems”. The blessings abound. I’m running toward London and not going to let anything get in my way from doing the work. #londonmarathontraining #londonmarathon2022 #rideoutstrong #beyondtype1 #type1diabetes #type1warrior #type1strong #rhone #wheninrhone #releaserecovery
