“Someone to Carry You” was inspired by a late-night text message from my childhood best friend — a hilariously weird video that reminded her of the kinds of things we’d do as kids. I laughed and laughed (and laughed and laughed) and, eventually, I just wished that I had a visual time capsule of this friendship that changed my life. I started to write our story: the moment we met, the eccentric things we used to do, the clubs we made that I wish I was still a part of (Vampire Club will always be my fave). Eventually, I turned our story into a short — a love letter to best friends everywhere; the ones who see us and know us and accept us exactly as we are. Nothing more, nothing less. So many wonderful people took part in making this little film — dear friends that I love and have worked with in the past, a brilliant crew, and absolutely fantastic young actresses that I know are going to go so very far. I’ve always been so terrified and overwhelmed by the idea of directing anything and I am so grateful to you all for helping to make these memories come back to life. And, of course, I am eternally grateful to my first real friend @lauracardona_miami_realtor , the first person who wasn’t my mother or father to love me and allow me to be my weirdest, most bizarre self. If you love these things about me, Laura is someone you should thank. This is for all the people in your life who see your heart and encourage you to be your most authentic you! I’m so excited that “Someone To Carry You” will be screening this weekend at the LA Women’s International Film fest AND Film Girl Film Fest online✨Link in bio for details :) *** #shortfilm #shortfilmfestival #bffs #bffsforever #filmgirl #beyou #femalefilmmakers
