There are 3 types of moisturizers, Occlusives, Emollients & Humectants & I will discuss each in a separate post. But for today, let’s chat about occlusives. Occlusives are ingredients that form a protective layer on the skin to prevent moisture loss (also called slugging). They also help keep irritants/allergens/pollution from penetrating the skin. Occlusives are great for most skin types but if you are acne prone or prone to milia I would proceed with caution. I wouldn’t use in conjunction with retinol/retinoids or AHA/BHA as it can cause irritation & sensitivity. {save + share} These are some of my favorite occlusive products. Some are very heavy but some are more lightweight. These are the products I recommend to my clients and use myself. I hope this infographic helps you find an occlusive that will work for your skin and your budget.
