I’ve been looking at and admiring the @viviennewestwood archive all morning and I think this picture of @traceyeminstudio for the AW00/01 collection captures the essence of her genius. Her clothes were sexy and empowering, special and yet not precious or silly, feminine and embracing of a woman’s body but also, crucially, incredibly structured and constructed so that they would hold it all in place. Wearable but stop-the-room wonderful. Every woman I’ve ever known with proper boobs is a devotee of Westwood - and for good reason. She was the queen of the awesome cleavage and many, many, many other things. Including pirate boots - the focus of a decades-long obsession - and delicious tailoring. I can’t imagine the modern wardrobe without her. May she roar in peace 🖤🖤🖤
