Seven years ago this month, the right to marry became law for millions of LGBTQ+ people in the US. When the White House was lit up in the rainbow flag colors, I almost wept with happiness. We had been married about a year (it was already legal in the state of NY). The law passed by a single vote on the Supreme Court. With the recent attack on Roe v Wade by the Court, we are in danger of losing another human right we are entitled to. For #pridemonth, which starts today, I am grateful for our amazing trailblazing community but also very concerned about regressing human rights in this country. I’m focusing on how I felt that day.
