On any given day on the MSK Kids floor at Memorial Hospital, you might hear the sounds of Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, or Willow. But it's probably Wendy, Carsandra, or Evelyn. These three Environmental Services employees have become famous for breaking into song and dance when they sense a patient might need cheering up. A mop becomes a microphone and a patient room becomes a stage. They take their jobs very seriously, ensuring that patients' rooms are clean to safeguard them from germs. But they also will go the extra mile to put a smile on a child's face. As Evelyn says, "If I can make this a good day for someone, that's the best."
