CAL FIRE recently acquired 4 OV-10s from @NASA, which arrived at our Aviation Management Unit/McClellan Park in Sacramento earlier this month. Attaining these planes is the first step in preparing and converting the aircraft to be used in the CAL FIRE fleet to serve and protect California. These OV-10s will be utilized as surge/relief to ensure CAL FIRE always has our frontline fleet in the air due to maintenance needs. Its mission is initial command and control of an incident from an aerial capacity. It is often on scene prior to the arrival of ground resources and can also be used to provide fire status updates, fire growth, threats to structures, and to identify priorities from an aerial perspective. #CALFIRE #Aviation #CALFIREAirOps @calfireairops
