We are team of Black queer women who are creating a documentary and photography series archiving the history and influence of Black Birth-workers across the U.S. Black mothers are 3x more likely to die from birth and pregnancy complications due to many factors. We are exploring those factors, while paying homage to the birth workers creating a safer space for Black mothers to give birth. My team Brittany Brock, Safiyah Chiniere, and I are leaving 9/1 to travel across country to interview Black midwives, doulas, physicians and academic experts!
