I’m delighted to be (re)listed on the artist page for my pals at @laklandbasses! I was a Lakland endorser over a decade ago, so being back with them feels sorta like a homecoming! Where my PRS covers the spectrum in terms of spicy exotic tones, and my Music-Man Stingray grinds out the muscular rock tones, my Laklands deliver the no-nonsense and well-loved vintage tones. I’ve been using my 55-60 Deluxe as my primary fly-date instrument, and on those days when my backline and monitor mixes are sometimes inconsistent, this axe makes “dialing in” MUCH easier. It’s a Jazz Bass at its core, but with a couple of nifty upgrades...a 35” scale for a nice and tight low B string, a John East J-Retro passive/active preamp for fine-tuning, and Hipshot tuners to keep the headstock light and balanced. It’s a slapper’s dream, but it’s got all the meat you’ll need for just about any musical situation.
