Hey everyone. This is Akin, CEO and co-founder of Blacktag. As we enter into a new year, I just wanted to take a moment to come up for air to share all we’ve accomplished and express gratitude to you all for the support you’ve granted us. 2021 was certainly a year — and as we adjust to our new normal, that means changes to the way we live, socialize, consume, and connect. We started building Blacktag nearly four years ago on a MacBook running off borrowed time and a dream. Today, we are proud to say that we’ve garnered the support of some of the most prolific investors, collaborated with some of the most brilliant creatives around the globe, launched an app, produced original and dynamic content, and built an enviable team of some of the brightest minds who are working overtime to advance our collective vision. We’ve also built a community who has lifted us up and inspired us to continue. It is undeniable that Blacktag wouldn’t be possible without each of you. Blacktag is a platform built to serve our people: Black creators and audiences all over the world. Without either, this does not function. Our creators, collaborators, co-conspirators, investors, and anyone who has downloaded the app or attended our events have made Blacktag what it is today. The dream was to build the platform, launch an app, and now — it’s real. We may not have the same money bags or manpower of our peers in this space, but we can promise you this: everything we are building is meant to bring you joy, connection, and make you feel seen. We’re here to make sure Black creators get paid what we’re worth and do our part in advancing the movement towards equity. We’re here to show up and connect with our community. Blacktag is not a temporary solution. It’s built by us, for our future. We have an ambitious vision and we’ll need your continued support and patience in getting there. Next year, we’re bringing you more original series, events, technological innovations, new creators, thoughtful content, collaboration, and so much more.
