At 10:30 pm last night (Jan. 24, 2022) our precious Oswald Cobblepot gained his Bat Wings. He passed away with Ryan and I as we laid beside him in our bed, giving him hugs, kisses, and telling him how much we loved him and as he looked at us and took it all in. He took his last breaths in both our arms and in a warm comforting and familiar spot that he loved. 6 and a half years ago Oswald unexpectedly came into our lives. A stray alley cat that was nearly on his last leg trying to find food (he was only bone, and weighed about a pound and a half). For two weeks I left food out for him and gained his trust. We took him in and nursed him back to health. We originally were going to find him a good home, but he had stolen our hearts... and what was once 4 Bat Cats, soon became 5. Oswald knew we gave him a second chance at a new loving life, one that he always deserved. You would have never known he had been living on the streets for 3+ years, because he only showed a personality of pure love and appreciation. He was the politest cat you would ever meet, always asking for permission to jump up and sit next to you or his iconic 3 taps with his paw on my arm to get my attention and ask if he could so kindly sit on my lap. His big ol’ beautiful round eyes that would look into yours saying, “Hello”, “Can You Scratch My Head”, or “I Love You”. We could call his name from anywhere in the house and he would immediately come to us. One of his favorite spots was our bedroom window ceil... most mornings he would wait by Ry’s bedside for him to lift the window shades, or if he wasn’t waiting, we would yell out, “Window!” and he would come flying around the corner and do a running jump onto the ledge. Can’t forget about the belly rubs! Ohh, and how every night for the past 6 years he would take his position underneath my right arm during bed time. 6 years just just wasn’t enough. We had so much more love to give him and we are beyond heartbroken. Our home although full, feels so empty. The Rainbow Bridge gained a beautifully spirited soul. The Bat Cats will never be the same... but he will forever be engraved in our hearts. Love You Always Oswald, our sweet Baby Boy
