Rest in Peace, Gaston
Life is finite not only for humans, but also for our precious four-legged friends. 16 faithful years by my side, yet unfortunately today I had to give up Gaston.
Born in Limburg, he’s always been a very loving, playful and beautiful dog even as a puppy. Smart and stubborn, but warm in character. No malice in him; only sweetness for everyone, young and old. Gaston was an intelligent, curious, happy and proud dog, always wagging his tail.
Gaston travelled with me to Spain, Italy, Morocco and Portugal. He felt at home everywhere, as long as I was near him.
Later, when the late Loulou joined Gaston, he was an exemplary gentleman.
When afterwards Pablo, from Mexico, joined the family, he suddenly had a playmate. Gaston lost his sight and hearing in recent years, but his sense of smell guided him on through life.
Flora from Italy, brought joy to the house and Gaston, given his health deterioration, experienced a second childhood, so to speak. They played, romped, for hours on end, and Gaston almost never showed any sign of fatigue.
His barking, to compensate his blindness and deafness, was a call for attention, which he always demanded, but also a sign of affection for us all.
Old age took a toll, and it was not supposed to stay that way.
Gaston, thanks to the love and care he received from us, has now joined the animal kingdom’s afterlife. Suddenly, the barking stopped, and a huge silent gap was left behind within the house. Pablo and Flora have lost their great friend. The memories will keep Gaston in our lives forever. We will miss him greatly but are grateful for all the beauty he brought into our lives.
Gaston forever with us ...
