Today I officially became a U.S. citizen. It’s a bittersweet time to be committing to this but I promise to use my vote and voice effectively to help champion equality and social justice. With a Masters in American history, 19 years of living in the greatest city in the world and being married to one of the finest Americans I know, I felt it was my time to be a part of the solution and not forever sit on the sidelines. As an immigrant in a long line of immigrants, my experience here proves that the American dream is real if you work hard enough. I’m proud to stand alongside my new compatriots today in striving for a better future for this country.
