My heart is with every trans child who is reading the weekly updates on anti-trans legislation and thinking something about them makes them less worthy of receiving love and understanding. Your soul is perfect and your body is nothing more than a vessel in which others perceive you. The world has a strange obsession with the body, especially the genitals, but Baruch HaShem, every trans person on this earth was tasked with the unique mission to prove the world otherwise. We are walking miracles that created a reality that the world told us was impossible. I spent the majority of my life believing that I would never be able to share the type of closeness that I saw others sharing with their friends and family. I believed that I carried a secret so shameful that sharing it might effect even the familial love that is promised to be unconditional. I didn’t believe it was possible to be trans while having friends, family, a job, children. The only trans people I had heard of had been murdered. Believing this was debilitating and led me to being hospitalized for suicide ideation at 16 years old. Unfortunately my experiences are extremely commonplace within the trans community. In America, 82% of us will consider suicide within our lifetime, and 50% of us will attempt to end our life. It is so important to know that other realities exist for trans people outside of rape, murder, drug addiction, homelessness. TOGETHER WE CAN WRITE A NEW CHAPTER OF HISTORY. One where we live to 100 & die smiling, surrounded by family. Blood is on the hands of every individual apart of putting these policies into effect. This will undoubtedly lead to more suicide, & more children and young people being taught that it is okay to hate someone because of their body. But I’m here to proudly claim that I look forward to existing for a very long time and continuously begging for us all to stay on earth together. I dream about making a house with someone special, raising babies and living long enough to decide what my favorite color is.
