I want to take a moment to celebrate this landmark time in my career and share my bliss will you all. You have to believe, friends! Believe in yourself ! In your potential ! Your talent ! Your work ! YOU A few years ago, if I was told that my work would be exhibited at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London alongside the greatest African designers, I would have replied "What's the Victoria Albert for anyway? And why me? .......... When the Victoria & Albert Museum contacted me almost a year ago to discuss their interest for a few of my pieces to be displayed at the Africa Fashion Exhibition, I could hardly believe it. Now that I see these pictures of my pieces installed in the window, I believe it.... Here we are, participating at this ground-breaking event as my creations will be exhibited, next to the African fashion pioneers. Leaders of the Africa vanguard, first generation of inspiring and iconic designers such as Shade Thomas-Fahm "Nigeria's first modern fashion designer” Chris Seydou known for his unapologetic use of African fabrics, bogolanfini from Mali (his home country); or Alphadi ! Not only that but Lafalaise Dion carried by the power of ancestors and writing Herstory will be breaking barriers as two (2) of my pieces: The Amazon and the Tanke Belt have been acquired by the V&A and will be integrating the museum's permanent collection! It is in these moments that the stubbornness one has to be an agent of change takes all its meaning. May the cowries guide and protect us, always, as we do it for Culture. *The Amazon, a real ode to the divine feminine through the lengthy strands of cowries, the piece is made to magnify the mystic in every being. *The Tanke Belt, Tanke meaning dance in Yacouba, a belt to wear on all occasions. Might it be to celebrate the circle of life in the Sun or by Moonlight. Credit photo @patydantas8 ✨✨🤍
