Nearly seven months ago, the Denver Zoo partnered with Colorado Parks and Wildlife and began a project to replenish an ailing population of boreal toads in the state. The lumpy, speckled, grayish green toads are critically endangered and a vital piece to healthy wetlands in Colorado. Since April, 5280 has followed along, documenting the experts breeding adult toads and finally releasing their offspring into the wild.
