The plan was to hop on the gram this morning and talk about how happy I was that we were back rolling and started Fall Programming last night. However, literally as I was writing my caption I got a call from the alderman over the ward we were in last night telling me how three shorties (12, 15, and 16) were killed last night just blocks away from the gym DURING the hours we were in there. People may look at @projectswishchicago as something that’s cute, or cool, or just another basketball camp but I promise you it’s so much deeper. We come to these hoods during these times intentionally. We really give a fuck, bro. If those three shorties would’ve been in the gym with us last night instead of outside we would’ve still had them around. The shit is painful to think about how these kids are half my age and haven’t even gotta a chance to experience or see shit yet fr and just that fast their life is gone. The mission remains the same.
