While harvest is around the corner for our producers {if not already starting to happen}, let’s all still hang on to summer as long as we can! We don’t believe that rosé is only for summer; it should be enjoyed all year long, but there’s no denying that rosé is also deeply connected in the collective consciousness of sunny, hot days, the whir of cicadas, and the romance of vacation in far away places. As we go into the last couple of weeks of August, we are savoring our rosés, and @tenutadicarleone rosato never disappoints. 100 % Sangiovese, it tells the story of the little pocket of Castiglione outside of Radda in Chianti, the pronounced hills of this part of Tuscany, with it’s candied violet-strawberries-and-cream-basil flower-watermelon meet cute black pepper-earthy-spicy-black beans-wet rocks-after-rain vibe. Tenuta di Carleone is situated in a micro-hamlet, a medieval castle built and land cultivated by the monks of Badia a Coltibuono. Now it’s the collaboration between Sean O’Callahan and Karl Egger who’ve brought the place and vineyards back to life. Small parcels grown on Alberese and Galestro soils, are nestled among wooded hills, small streams and aged olive trees. Biodynamic and regenerative farming, native yeasts, and no fining or filtering, fermentation and again in cement or stainless, result in wines that are fresh and tensile, generous yet structured. The rosé is no exception, except it is an exceptional expression of a light pressing of wholecluster fermentation of Sangiovese hailing from Radda. #artisanalcellars #tenutadicarleone #chianti #rosé #sangiovese #raddainchianti #tuscany #tuscanwine #italianwine
