Join us this Saturday, November 5th at 2pm for “Ground Signal: A Performance with Masimba Hwati and Temitope Fash⁠.” ⁠ 📍Tiwani Contemporary 13 Elsie Femi Pearse Street Victoria Island Lagos⁠ “Ground Signal” is a performance based on the idea of Dzikamunhenga, an ancient Shona instrument using the earth as a resonator.⁠ ⁠ Masimba Hwati is fascinated by the idea of using the earth as a giant resonator. In Shona philosophy, the earth is not inanimate but a body of minerals, electricity, micro-organisms, magnetic energies, water, gas, star dust, and ancient roots. It is also the place where the ancestors retire to become one with everything that composes earth.⁠ ⁠ Together with musician Temitope Fash, Masimba Hwati will activate his exhibited sculptures by sending ground signals. ⁠ Temitope Fash is a musician, curator and composer. His multi-disciplinary practice cuts across music, theatre and other community art-based practices. He is the founder and curator of Artitude with Fash, a quarterly sonic movement and therapeutic communion in Lagos which features, folkJazz & contemporary music, poetry, spoken word and dance performances. He is also a host partner at Make music Lagos Festival 2022 for the Bariga community art. Over the years he has collaborated and worked with several global musicians and organizations.
