D͟R͟O͟P͟ A͟L͟E͟R͟T͟ 👀 Inertia by @bendotk, a visual artist who designs algorithms that explore bold, yet natural forms and the beauty of imperfection. Using code to create artworks that feel at home in the natural world. He has previously released two highly celebrated generative art collections on Art Blocks, titled Edifice and 100 PRINT, though his latest project ‘Inertia’ finds a new home with Drops on Foundation. Inertia, loosely based on abstract etchings and linocut prints, is a generative art project developed to explore the process of combining as many of his existing algorithms as possible while still retaining a cohesive sense of balanced color harmony and visual weighting. Inertia brings a handmade feel to code based art, leaning into natural deformities found in the natural world. INFO Drop Date: Nov 17 @ 12:00 ET Size: 75 NFTs Mint Price: .3eth On Inertia’s inspiration: “I went to the MoMA earlier this year and was blown away by an etching made by the Venezuelan artist Gego. I thought the aesthetic of her work was almost digital in nature, and it inspired me to start incorporating some of those elements into my own explorations. Inertia is the end result of that initial spark of inspiration. I wanted to work on something that utilized tons of algorithms that I've relied on for my past work, and see if I could craft a subtle feeling of the natural world throughout the project. It is the largest hand-curated series I've ever done." On Drops: “I'm most creative when writing my generative art code in #Haskell. I've been building my own tools there for about five years now. I've done Art Blocks projects in the past, but for those, the code is written in javascript and stored on-chain. This project uses a ton of code from my prior work that would be tough to translate to javascript, and the resulting code would be so large it would cost a ton to store on chain. Using Foundation's drops allows me to do something I've wanted to do for a while: offer a lottery style release for a large generative set, created from the tools with which I'm most comfortable." #generativeart #genart #digitalart #nft
