Sometimes a project comes to you that touches your heart in the deepest of ways. When I first read the scripts for Keep Breathing by the incomparable @martingero and @brendanscgall I was deeply moved and inspired and felt such a visceral connection to this story. I was 1000% convinced I was the director for the job... but as these things often go it seemed out of reach. But sometimes faith and persistence and others belief in you can win you the job you know you deserve. This show changed me as a director. The collaborations were deep, challenging and taught me how to be a better leader and how to maintain a steadfast hold on vision despite a myriad of challenges. Cold water! Bears! Air to air work! Bugs! Underwater sequences in three parts! Covid. I also spent the longest stretch away from my family. But there wasn’t a day that went by that I didn’t feel the wind at my back and the light in my heart that first ignited when I read the first words. My deepest gratitude to the most wonderful showrunners Martin and Brendan who kept it all fun and serious and committed to a way of working that never swayed. I couldn’t have asked for a better collaborative experience. To my incredible partner @jonjoffin whose commitment to beauty and natural lighting was steadfast and powerful. Our crew worked tirelessly in all sorts of conditions and always did so with a smile even though this shoot was far from easy. More than anyone my heart full of gratitude goes to the exquisite @melissabarreram who gave every inch of her self- body and spirit to this role.
