The UN Ocean Conference was a success. The tone of the conference was urgent but full of solutions to address our most critical issues: climate change, plastic pollution, loss of biodiversity, more inclusivity and engagement of youth. Solutions included the UN Plastic Pollution treaty and framework, restoring blue carbon habitats, establishing more protected areas, rewilding the sea, and more focus on local community input and action. And surfers are playing an increasing role in ocean protection, which is great to see! It was also really nice to reconnect with so many colleagues, some from home and many from Europe and around the world. I am more motivated than ever to rise up to protect our ocean, waves, and beaches. #unoceanconference #surfactivism
